So.. I had a few years listening to new media philosophies all the days from “Content is King” in the 1990s.
Guess what? Content is still king.
It’s how we think about it. Truth of the matter is that right now, people watch premium shows with the internet to the tune of about 80% of bandwidth and more of the entire internet. Streaming. Downloading is passe.
Like the music industry, the film and television industry has few legal or technical tools to deal with the phenomenon.
Apple’s Itunes tells us something. “NBC, CBS, UNIVERSAL” and Paramount are not Internet brands, but they are brands, and this may be fleeting.
Houses of cards built on the Internet, like Facebook, and Google are only good because they are incredibly useful and well-tended. Just like the App Store, just like iTunes.
Streaming media is the way to go – new models of advertising and content delivery that is above all things _convenient_.
And that’s it people, that’s the new reality.
